*****************

We're excited to host our 4th Burns Supper and recreate a traditional Scottish party here in California! This year it is being held in aid of Stanford Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Research.

Who is Robert Burns and why do we celebrate him?

Robert Burns is Scotland's National Bard, or poet. He was a farmer, a ladies man and bit of a rogue. However, he wrote poetry and songs that are still celebrated to this day, including Auld Lang Syne. Burns' birth date was January 25th and this year we will celebrate 250 years since his birth.

What is a Burns Supper?

Scots love to party and so this is really an excuse to get together and celebrate. The Burns Supper starts with a three course dinner. Haggis is traditionally served, but before it is received by guests the chef presents the haggis to the Master of Ceremonies, after processing the dish around the room. Burns' famous poem To a Haggis is delivered and dinner is then followed by a series of short toasts accompanied, of course, by Scottish whisky. The Immortal Memory is a toast about the life and times of Robert Burns. A Toast to the Lassies, usually in sarcastic tone, is given by one of the men, and the women are then given their rightful opportunity to reply!

The entertainment continues with poems, singing, a live band and ceilidh dancing--traditional Scottish dancing...don't worry we'll teach you!

There will be a silent auction on the night, but we welcome your donation to Stanford Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Research at any time on this site.

We hope you can join us this year! Get your tickets early, as this event does sell out every year and we only have capacity for 90 people.
